Week of June 17th: New Album Releases

The Antlers – Familiars

Slow crawling dream pop has been an art The Antlers have persisted to improve upon steadily since 2012’s Drift Drive EP. “Hotel”, the first glimpse off Familiars, marks a soulful turn for the band which is best grasped at the song’s trancy guitar closer.

Trummors – Moorish Highway

Composed of only two multi-instrumentalists, Trummors features David Lerner (bassist for Ted Leo & The Pharmacists) and songwriter Anne Cunningham devising lush acoustic melodies with a psychedelic twist. At times feeling one part country, one part rock and one part pop, Moorish Highway devilishly warps between multiple genres to hone in on a sound unique to itself.

White Lung – Deep Fantasy

White Lung (and specifically frontwoman Mish Way) cover a lot of topics fearlessly on their third album, Deep Fantasy. With the addition of a bassist, new guitarist and drummer, there’s a tough edge to every punk rock ballad they construct, all shrouded by deeply impactful sincerity that feels empowering for both the auteur and the audience.
