The story behind the ‘etc.’ in Astronauts, etc. is there is no ‘etc.’ – only a single astronaut: Anthony Ferraro. Being a little bit How To Dress Well with a tinge more vocal fuzz, Ferraro tangles the two worlds of hip-hop and psych-pop ever so ethereally towards a result he openly dubs as “supermelodic pulp.” Kudos go out to Ferraro in juggling this solo project around the immense workload that comes with being Toro y Moi’s new keyboardist amidst an international tour. As of now, the payoff sounds lush – like an inescapable nocturnal dreamscape.
“Fuss” arrives from the 6-song Sadie EP, the second for Ferraro under his Astronauts, etc. stage name. Sadie, which will see a September 6th release, so happens to also inaugurate the recent signing/first release between himself and Los Angeles label Hit City U.S.A. The hazed-out title track “Sadie” saw a much earlier appearance here and gives further insight to Ferraro’s obvious sweet tooth for genre-mixing.
