Darkside unfurls two unreleased tracks and announce they are “coming to an end, for now”

Last year’s Psychic album from Darkside was a tour de force – although the partnership between the two as a collaborative effort are coming to a close. Not that the duo of wunderkind artist/Other People imprint founder Nicolas Jaar and guitarist Dave Harrington hit a sour note, they’ve simply chosen to take an irresolute hiatus. Official news of the breakup came from the group’s Twitter along with poster art for their final show to be held at Brooklyn’s Masonic Temple.

The two were sure to thank fans for listening and for their ongoing support over their last few years of music making. From their 2012 Psychic sessions, Jaar and Harrington also doled out outtakes that were (and still are) originally planned for a wax release on Work, a compilation 12″ print by Nicolas Jaar’s subscription-based label. One of Darkside’s tracks – ironically titled “Gone Too Soon” – is especially excellent. The other is called “What They Say” and features Jaar’s extensive electronic capabilities set to an ambient soundscape. Both tracks are available to stream below.
